Each module contains core instructional content videos featuring Gary or Michele—these are divided into short segments, typically 3-5 minutes each. At the end of each module you’ll find an exercise designed to deepen your leaning.

Several modules also feature downloadable tools and templates that will help you apply the lessons of the course in your organization, as well as links to auxiliary content, including exclusive video interviews with progressive CEOs and thought leaders. You’ll find this bonus content under the “Go Deeper” heading in select segments.

Course mechanics

The course is designed to equip you and your colleagues to build a better organization, so there’s no pass / fail requirement. We do encourage you to review all the videos and complete all the exercises to get the most out of the course.

In the coming weeks, we will offer different options to obtain certification credit for successfully completing the course. Please stay tuned for updates.

This is a self-paced course, so there are no official due dates. In our experience the course can be completed in 6-8 weeks if you dedicate 1-2 hours a week to the coursework.

Each participant is able to submit a single submission for each exercise, which you can easily build on or change. To do so, just access your submitted exercises in your Notebook—click on the “view” link at the bottom of each exercise, and once the exercise template pops up, click on the “edit” button.

The easiest way to gauge progress is is by visiting your profile page (just click on your profile pic, top right). The red circle around your profile pic will also give you a visual representation of how far you’ve come (the fuller it is, the closer you are to being done). The course outline page also gives you a quick summary of the exercises you’ve completed.

Team version BETA

Hacking your organization’s bureaucratic management model is ideally a team sport. While taking this course, you can invite colleagues and peers to a shared workspace where together you can review and build on each others’ contributions and participate in online discussions. One caveat: the team features are very much in beta, so please bear with us as we evolve these based on your feedback.

To invite others, just go to the Team page, and click on the “invite team members” button to create a shared workspace. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to invite others by sharing your unique web link (they will need to purchase Humanocracy and register before they’re added to the team).

A team can have up to 15 members. In the current beta version, you will not be able to subtract team members so please choose them wisely! (If you run into problems managing team member accounts, please contact us and we’ll help you).

When you create a new team, the site sets up a dedicated space for you and your collaborators to have a direct dialogue about the course. Just click on “Discussion” whenever you want to review or add to existing threads, or start your own.

You can find all the completed exercises on the team workspace page, under the “Exercises” tab. The contributions from you and your team will appear as individual cards which you can sort, like, and comment on.

To access the free course, each participant needs to purchase a copy of the book prior to registering (given all the content we’re making available, we think it’s a really good deal!). If you’ve made a bulk purchase of the book for all your team members, please contact us at admin@humanoracy.com so we can get you set up.

The “Invite Team Members” button will only be visible to the person who created the team. However, each team workspace has a unique invitation link, so people who receive the link can share it with others (before suggesting they do that, keep in mind the 15-person limit on team size).

If you’d like to make Hack My Org available to your entire organization, or launch a company-wide hackathon, please contact us at enterprise@humanocracy.com.
